Former French President Chirac hospitalised after mauling by his clinically depressed poodle

i think the dog is actually a maltese.  anyhow, this story raises far more questions than it answers.  how does a grown man get mauled by a little rat-dog?  how does one diagnose a dog as clinically depressed?  what caused this furry little doorstop to go all cujo on chirac?  and why did chirac name his dog sumo?

the star wars trilogy as told by someone who never saw any of them

Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn’t seen it) from Joe Nicolosi on Vimeo.

found this on io9 and loved it.  reminded me of when i was watching The Phantom Menace with j and she got this confused look and asked me when the “dude with the black helmet” was going to appear.  she also asked me what happened to “toyota.”  when i realized that toyota=yoda i literally fell to the ground in a laughing fit.  🙂  this clip is probably what the star wars trilogy looks like in j’s head. :0

costco has wagyu beef!!…but is it a bargain?

this is for all you foodies out there. too lazy to drive out to eat at CUT? no problem. now you’re only a trip to costco away from the best steak out there.  BUT- at $2,299.00, is it a deal?  let’s look at the numbers.  at costco, $2,300 dollars buys you 15 pounds of wagyu beef.  at 16 ounces to a pound, that works out to 240 ounces.  this rounds out to about $9.60 an ounce.  at wolfgang’s CUT, an 8 ounce steak will cost about $160 dollars, or about $20 an ounce.  of course, at that price they’ll throw in the cooking part.  🙂  so in true costco fashion, this deal works out as long as you are okay with the volume.

my gut feeling is that this is the truth

a little background research will confirm that Michael Lewis’ opinion should be taken seriously.  i’m not in finance/econ, but for me this article feels exactly on point.  i hope that those in power pay attention to the concept of Conflict of Interest as they look to reform the SEC.   the future health of the USA may to some degree depend on it.
